Check a manuscript file on DergiPark in one click
Plugins cannot be installed on DergiPark, so the extension is installed in the editor's browser. Right-click the manuscript file in the editor panel and choose “Check with ReferenceVerify”: the bibliography check or Citation Check opens without downloading and re-uploading the file.
For Chrome and Edge. Permanent link (always the latest version): kaynakca-dogrula-eklenti-latest.zip
Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge (desktop) · a ReferenceVerify account
The extension is not in the stores yet; installation takes the four steps below, once (about 2 minutes).
How it works
The file is downloaded with your own DergiPark session and sent to us encrypted; the check runs in your browser as usual.
Installation (Chrome and Edge)
Download and unzip
Download the .zip with the button above and unzip it; you get a “kaynakca-dogrula-eklenti” folder. Keep the folder (for example in Documents) — the extension runs from it.
Open the extensions page
Type chrome://extensions in Chrome or edge://extensions in Edge, and turn on “Developer mode”.
Load the folder
Click “Load unpacked” and select the “kaynakca-dogrula-eklenti” folder you unzipped.
Pin it and sign in
Pin ReferenceVerify from the puzzle icon in the toolbar and sign in to referenceverify.com. Done.
For a new version: unzip the new .zip over the same folder and click the extension's reload button on the extensions page.
How to use
In the DergiPark editor panel
- In the submission's files, right-click the link of the manuscript file (Word, PDF or RTF).
- Choose Check with ReferenceVerify → Reference check (references against scholarly records) or Citation check (do the sources support the claims?).
- The site opens in a new tab with the file loaded. The file is fetched with your DergiPark session, so any file you can see in the panel can be checked.
On a published article page
- On a DergiPark article or issue page, a “ReferenceVerify” button appears next to the PDF link.
- Clicking it sends the article straight to the reference check.
PDFs open in the browser and other sites
- To check a PDF open in the browser, click the ReferenceVerify icon in the toolbar.
- Right-click also works on other submission systems; the first time, permission is asked for that site only.
Sign-in and language
- If you are not signed in, the sign-in page opens and the check continues afterwards.
- There is no language setting: a Turkish browser opens kaynakcadogrula.com, any other language opens referenceverify.com.
Privacy and permissions
- The extension only accesses the file you right-click or whose button you press; it does not read pages or keep browsing history.
- The file is sent to us encrypted and deleted when opened, or after one hour at the latest. The link opens only in the account that sent it.
- Permanent permissions cover only kaynakcadogrula.com, referenceverify.com and dergipark.org.tr. For a file on another site, permission is asked for that site on first use.
- The check runs in your browser; the manuscript is not stored.
Troubleshooting
“The link returned a web page instead of a file”
Your DergiPark session may have expired. Sign in to DergiPark again and retry.
“Check with ReferenceVerify” is missing from the menu
You need to right-click a file link. Check that the extension is enabled on the extensions page.
“The file is larger than the 50 MB limit”
Download and compress it, or paste the reference list on the site.
Chrome warns about developer-mode extensions
This is the usual notice for unpacked extensions; dismiss it and continue. It disappears once the extension is published in the store.
For journals on OJS
If your journal runs Open Journal Systems, the server-side OJS plugin is more integrated: it writes the result summary to the submission and suggests reviewers.
