Welcome to ReferenceVerify. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the website (referenceverify.com) and the services provided by Medikalai Yazılım Anonim Şirketi ("we," "our," or "us").
By registering for an account or using our services, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use our services.
1. Description of Service
ReferenceVerify is an academic reference verification tool that checks bibliographies by algorithmic cross-referencing against open academic databases (no AI/LLM is involved in the verification verdict): it detects unverifiable/fabricated citations, resolves DOIs, and reformats citations (APA, Vancouver, IEEE, etc.). The optional literature/gap-analysis feature additionally uses a large language model to synthesise candidate research gaps from the real records it retrieves.
2. User Accounts and Subscriptions
- Account Responsibility: You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activities that occur under your account.
- One Account per Person: Usage limits apply to you as a person, not to an email address. Where several accounts appear to belong to the same person, we may apply the limits jointly across them.
- Subscription Tiers:We offer Free (Guest/Member) tiers with usage limits and paid tiers ("Pro", "Max", a 7-day "Thesis pack", institutional licences) with the fair-use allowances published on the pricing page. Monthly allowances renew on the 1st of each month; tools other than reference and citation checking are not metered on paid tiers.
- Billing Partner: All subscription payments, billing data, and renewals are handled securely by our Merchant of Record, Paddle. You agree to comply with their billing terms during the purchase process.
3. Acceptable Use and Restrictions
You agree NOT to use the platform to:
- Automate queries or scrape data using bots, spiders, or scripts without our express written permission.
- Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or copy the underlying algorithms and software of ReferenceVerify.
- Abuse the "Pro" plan by sharing your individual account credentials with multiple third parties or institutions. The Pro plan is intended strictly for individual or single-user professional use.
- Create or use additional accounts in order to exceed usage limits, renew free allowances, or evade a restriction applied to an existing account.
To enforce the above we process limited technical data as part of transaction security: an irreversible hash of your IP address (the address itself is not kept on your account), together with sign-up and sign-in records and account details. See our Privacy Policy for detail. If these rules are breached we may suspend the accounts concerned, withdraw usage allowances, or block sign-in. If you believe a decision was made in error, you can appeal through our Contact page; cancellation and refund rights remain as set out in our Cancellation & Refund Policy.
4. Intellectual Property & Academic Accuracy
- Your Content: We do not claim ownership of any text, citations, or documents you upload or process. Your documents are processed in-memory and are never stored on our servers.
- Service Accuracy: ReferenceVerify cross-references public open academic databases (e.g., CrossRef, OpenAlex, PubMed). While we strive for maximum precision, we do not guarantee 100% accuracy in citation formatting or database matching. Final academic and editorial validation remains the sole responsibility of the user.
5. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Medikalai Yazılım Anonim Şirketi shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages resulting from your use of, or inability to use, the platform, including but not limited to academic rejection or editorial disputes.
6. Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Republic of Türkiye, without regard to its conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising under these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Kütahya, Türkiye.
